Following the completion of my graduate study, I started a teaching position at Boston College. These photographs were made as I wrestled with the object-oriented gaze/voice I had authored thus far, and my desire to have encounters in the world that would lead to photography. In retrospect the figural photographs produced this year echo the scale/framing/attitude of many of the 19th century genre painters of New England.
